MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Jim Metcalfe

Jim Metcalfe
Principal
Fife College

Fife College is developing a renewed and focused College Leadership Team to drive its ambition to be the greatest community college it can be, building on 125 years of heritage and growth.

We are excited to be recruiting new Heads of Service to support the Assistant Principals in delivering our new strategy.  The roles of Heads of Service will work collaboratively with the College Leadership Team to ensure outstanding performance for our students and commercial partners.

These vacancies also come at an exciting time for the College, with a ground-breaking new learning campus in Dunfermline due to open during the 2025/26 academic year, and with record numbers of our successful students advancing to work and further study.

Fife College is one of the largest and most ambitious skills organisations in East Central Scotland, a major regional employer, and a respected public body. The College has around 24,000 enrolled learners each year, with 6,000 studying on a full-time basis.  Our most recent Student Satisfaction Survey showed 90% satisfaction rate, with 93% of students confirming they would recommend us to others. We have a total turnover of over £57 million, of which 76% is funding from the Scottish Funding Council. Fife College employs over 900 staff.

About Us

WE’RE PROUD OF WHO WE ARE

We might be somewhat biased, but we believe that Fife College is a superb place to work. However, you don’t have to just take our word for it – in our last staff survey, 77% of our colleagues said they were proud to work for Fife College.

So what is it that makes us stand out? Two things – People and Purpose. You’ll find that the people who work here care deeply about their jobs, and will be friendly, helpful and willing to see you settle in and thrive in your role. There is a real sense of community, with people proud to work here.

This is linked largely to Purpose – what the College aims to achieve, in putting our students first, and helping them thrive; providing opportunities to all; taking responsibility for wealth building in our communities; working in tandem with local businesses and employers; recognising our responsibilities towards Net Zero. This, and our continuous investment in our team, means people get up in the morning and look forward to coming to work, and go home again at night knowing they’ve done something worthwhile.

This year, we celebrate 125 years of college education in Fife. We’re proud to have contributed to skills, training, qualifications, opportunities and wealth-building in the region since 1899, and as we look to the future, we also want to celebrate the past. If you watch the video on the right, you’ll find out more about why we are proud of who we are.

Our five campuses sit at the heart of the Kingdom – Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes, Levenmouth and Rosyth
